OMG! I thought I had gone nuts! I visited my website today and saw these funny unicorns instead of gravatar pictures!
Now I think that this feature is built-in in my WordPress theme. That’s really fun! BTW, Happy Fool’s Day!

Well, then BuddyPress needs to be fixed. If they’re going to do nonstandard things, then I can’t be bothered to support them. Tell the BuddyPress authors about it.

Sadly it doesn’t, BuddyPress uses for some strange reason it’s own function to generate avatars. Tried looking into it but it was all too messy

It should work fine with BuddyPress as is. It just replaces the avatar functions in WordPress.
